I am a watercolor artist, I have been seriously painting for about four years. My previous artwork was for our children – wall murals, projects to accompany speeches, and science reports. Water color classes at the local Senior Center has enabled me to expand my understanding of how this medium works, to learn new techniques, and most of all to have the confidence to present my artwork to you.
I like to paint art that draws me in. Animals and people with captivating eyes, a tree surviving the stress of growing in a rock, the glorious colors of fall leaves, the unique textures of flowers from the thorns of roses to the whispers of dandelion seeds blowing in the wind, and sunsets that takes your breath away.
Water color is a challenge, learning one technique leads to another which creates motivation for me to learn more. The heron series was challenging, yet it was fun to create herons with personalities revealed through their posture and coloring. The Autumn Glory leaves fashioning the colors of fall are true to the foliage of North Florida. The Elephants entitled “Keep Moving” represent many of earth’s creatures trying to keep their family, friends and community together. “A Rose For Mom” is just that, a rose for Mom.
Included in this webpage are a few pieces that are done with acrylic paint. “Red Flowers” was motivated while painting our kitchen wall to look like existing wallpaper, wanting a piece of artwork that would pull the kitchen and dining room red paint together. It is painted without using a paint brush, can you figure out what tools were used?
“It’s A Snap” was inspired through the volunteer work my husband and I do for Habitat for Humanity. House building tools were the implements used to paint this picture. Yes, the snap line was created via a chalk line being snapped.
Keep watching this website as I explore new techniques, search for inspiring subjects, and continue to learn.
